Airbrushed Fridays: 2013 Topps #331
The Radness is coming! The Radness is coming!
Who is this week's victim, and why do we care? Jose Reyes was dubbed "the most exciting player in baseball" by Joe Morgan and countless other baseball blowhards. He was also a key part of the Marlins latest despicable baseball move, where they shed their payroll by, I don't know, 90% or so.
Why is this a thing? I don't really know. It's rare these days that any Series One cards get the Photoshop treatment, something that seems to be reserved for the Opening Day set these days. Topps even avoided this in 2009, the only year in the past decade-plus (that I know of) that didn't have an Opening Day set. Reyes and at least another player got the royal treatment this time around. I guess it's not as obnoxious as last year, when all of the Blue Jays and Marlins were getting Photoshopped right and left simply because the teams changed uniforms.
Airbrushed Fridays is a regular, weekly feature as the name seems to imply. If you know of a card with an altered photograph that you'd like to see featured, please contact me. You probably won't win anything other than a hyperlink and a Carnival cruise ticket, but you never know!
