Unnecessary Albert
Panini is trying to sneak more Pujols cards into my collection.
Panini's relatively new re-launch of their Prizm brand into baseball produced a new Cardinals card of a former Cardinals star. A recent YouTube feature on the 2011 Cardinals season, which would prove to be Albert's swan song, got me a bit nostalgic for the big lug. Of course, I really don't need more Pujols cards in my collection, but here we are.
Panini turned over a good portion of the final 100 cards in this series to legends/former players, and Pujols gets that treatment here. Of course, I am pretty sure he's still active in the game and has an Angels card in this set already. It's just a bit weird.
That is pretty weird, although it's Panini so I guess we shouldn't be surprised by weirdness.
ReplyDeleteVerlander gets the same treatment--one card as an Astro, and one as a Tiger.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually pretty cool that they feature him in a Stl uniform too. Now the question is will you chase the snake skin or lime green donuts parallels?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how relevant it is, but the 2014 Prizm football set has cards of multiple player's in two different uni's, so it's not that uncommon of a thing for Panini to do.
ReplyDeleteThat is different but kinda cool as well. He really was a stud for St. Louis.
