2015 Topps is live now. This isn't about that.
The next person on the list who participated in my December mini group break is Bob Walk the Plank. Matthew sent just four cards, but they are all of the sort of notoriety that gets you in a top loader and a premium position in my collection. I wasn't expecting a lot in trade from those folks that wanted to send something in exchange for their group break slot, so these cards were a pretty generous surprise.
Oh, Upper Deck. You give me an old school powder blue throwback Keith Hernandez and then shove a little pinstripe swatch in there. I think we all know what team he played for that wore pinstripes, and it was clearly not the Cardinals.
This Leaf revival is confusing to me. I haven't been impressed with the few cards that I have seen, and they apparently decided to pick up a few junk wax packs and stamp them with shiny numbers. Still, for some reason I can't completely turn up my nose at the buyback concept, and someone has at least found a way to make a 24 year old five cent card of a should-be Hall of Famer into something almost... unique.
Black and refractory, this is now one of the best cards of my growing Adam Wainwright collection. This is numbered 21 out of 65. Now I just need to get my hands on his variations from this set.
