Cardinals vs. Mariners: Game 3

Happy 4th of July, and Happy Baseball!

It's time for afternoon baseball! I will be enjoying some form of hot dog today, I am certain, along with live baseball under the sun. Life is good.

Harrison Bader enjoys life. I think you all know that by now. Enjoy your 4th, everyone, and don't let the jerks get you down.

I'm going with the baby blue Willie McGee t-shirt because America.

Cardinals vs. Mariners: Game 2

Waino Time.

Hey, it's me. I'm still up in Seattle, ready for game 2 of this series tonight. I get to see Adam Wainwright take the hill tonight, one of my all-time favorites. He's in the "crafty veteran" twilight stage of his career at this point, but I still enjoy watching him pitch. He's facing off against the former Cardinal Mike Leake, in a game that could see some runs put on the board. Some team has to score them, right?

I am really hoping Waino ends up in the broadcasting booth at some point, because he is a very entertaining guy. Most baseball players... not so much.

I'll be rocking the retro Cardinals cap and an Ebbets Field Flanners Portland Beavers t-shirt.

Cardinals vs. Mariners: Game 1

The Cards face Seattle tonight without their would-be All-Star.

It was brutal timing when Marcell Ozuna went down after sliding into a base and jamming (i.e. breaking) some fingers the other day. It wasn't just brutal for me, personally, knowing I had tickets to tonight's game, but for the team as well. Ozuna has nearly twice as many RBI as his next most successful teammate, and despite his fairly pedestrian batting average, was being lobbied for as the Cardinals lone All-Star selection.

The nod, instead, goes to Paul DeJong, who will likely be on the field tonight (please don't, like, also jam your fingers!) with the rest of the Redbirds as they take the field and try to improve on their .500 June. The losses and overall lifelessness of the offense have been more than frustrating, but there is still a full half-season to play with and no real obvious signs of things that should be corrected or set ablaze.

Come on, guys, let's get some hits! I will be rocking the Ozzie Smith '80s practice jersey tonight.

It's Summer and it's Baseball Time!

Play ball!

I'm hitting up Seattle in the morning to catch the Cardinals/Mariners series, which means the blog will be devoid of any real content for a bit. I'm going to schedule some roboposts for each gameday that will feature some amazing Cardinals cards from the 2019 Topps Museum Collection set. For now, let's look at a few of the more common cards from this fancypants release. I should mention at this point that all of this week's cards were acquired from another Crackin' Wax group break.

This isn't an awful portrait of Paul Goldschmidt's face per se, but my favorite part of these Canvas Collection cards is the "canvas" feel to them. I have a hard time saying this, because I don't feel that I have any artistic talent of my own (when it comes to drawing, at least), but I really dislike almost all drawn (and "drawn") cards from the current era.

The Museum Collection base design is nice and classy as usual. Matt Carpenter will have, hopefully, recovered from the stomach bug that kept him out of the lineup for the entire Padres series by tomorrow. It's only somewhat suspicious that he was benched for multiple games in the midst of an awful season for a rookie (Tommy Edman) who showed some flash the instant he got on the field.

Erin and I are very excited about seeing Yadi on the field again. I don't say this often, but... what a legendary player!
