Up For Grabs Cardinalpalooza: Bob Gibson

Hello Cardinals fans, and fans of great players in general! Over the course of I-don't-know-how-many years, I've accumulated nearly 10,000 Cardinals cards that I simply do not need. In the same manner as my "Up For Grabs" posts of the past, I am going to offer up my dupes of some of the better known players wearing the Birds on the Bat for low, low prices! Actually, there's no prices, technically. These cards are all up for trade. Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! I'm not asking for much at all, and if I've traded with you in the past there's a pretty good chance I will send you these cards if you express even the slightest of interest, regardless of whether you have anything to send in return at all.

The list of cards available follows at the bottom of the post. If you're a Cardinals fan and know other Cardinals fans, I would appreciate it greatly if you shared this bit of info as I know that people who collect the same teams don't always think of each other as the best trade partners. (They should, though!) These cards are probably going to end up on Listia or some other website as I really don't want to file them back in my massive dupes boxes.

Bob Gibson is first up on the trading block. Gibby was so dominant at one point that fundamental rules were rewritten, lowering the pitching mound to have a lasting effect on the game as a whole. Not many professional athletes have had this kind of direct impact on their game of choice. Only Wilt Chamberlain really comes to mind as a comparison.

What else is there to say about Bob Gibson? He's the number one pitcher I would go back in time to see, if I had an awesome baseball time machine. He threw 255 complete games in his career, which is 235 more than your precious Justin Verlander.

I could go all Chuck Norris with my Gibby praise, but I won't. He was just amazing, and let's leave it at that.
