Cardboard Junkie Care Package: Blazers Edition

Cardboard Junkie sent over a tremendous package recently, which included some prize winnings from finishing as a runner-up in his Blaster Fantasy League as well as a bunch of other things I tend to like. The Portland Trail Blazers get their first look at the "Heatles" tonight and will try to protect their home floor, where they have enjoyed an 8 game winning streak and a 12-3 record overall at the Rose Garden.

This shows Sabas in his final NBA season, where he returned to the Blazers after a one year absence to provide help off the bench. He's one of my faves. If you're only familiar with Sabonis from his NBA days, you should head directly to YouTube to check out what he was all about in his prime. This card is weird, by the way, because the Mavericks player has no name or number on his jersey. I don't get it.

Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje! That's really all I have to say.

I didn't know Panini put out an update set last year. At least, that's what this appears to be. Discussions about Brandon Roy's injury have become so drastic that there's talk of him undergoing experimental surgeries that no active pro athlete has ever endured. That can't be good.

Double D, while not really responsible for any thuggery that we know of, is one of the defining symbols of the Jail Blazers era. He was acquired in exchange for a just-about-to-breakout Jermaine O'Neal and his repertoire of infinite pump-fakes and flat footed close range shots were difficult to watch.

Gary Trent? Now that's Flair!

Go Blazers tonight! Bigger things are on the horizon tomorrow!

  2. Nice. An envelope full of Blazer cards is the best. Especially when there's a Sabonis in there.
