Spinosaurus!

I was out late tonight at a Deerhoof show, so I don't have much of an intro to this one. Most of you won't see this until Wednesday morning anyway, so consider this your mid-week wake-up call. Here's a pack... my first pack... of 2010 Allen & Ginter. I was prepared to dislike this set, but pathetically I softened up after seeing the packs sitting on the counter at the card shop last weekend. I softened up further after opening this. (I didn't soften up about the $5.49 price tag, but what's done is done.) I still plan on taking it easy with this one as I'd like to finish a few other sets before committing money to anything new, but I'm sure I'll end up picking up a blaster or two at some point this summer.

94 - Luke Hochevar (I can hardly think of another first card to get that would be more underwhelming.)

185 - X-Rays (Woo! X-Rays! Woo!)

45 - Justin Verlander (Verlander is either really embarrassed about something or he's wearing pink makeup. It's possible that he's embarrassed about his pink makeup.)

111 - Josh Willingham

49 - Jenrry Mejia (I have no idea who this is, but I'm pretty sure Topps screwed up his name as I don't think anyone is really named Jenrry.)

171 - Michael Young (Extremely boring name, extremely boring player, extremely boring card...)

MM7 - Spinosaurus Monsters of the Mesozoic (Ahh! Ah!! This is what sucks me in to this set. This is better than all of the previously mentioned cards combined. Spinosaurus! "Jaw Power"!)

67 - Carl Crawford Mini A&G Back (Okay, maybe Crawford is no Spinosaurus, but this is nice, too. I'm pretty sure I exceeded my usual allotment of one mini in these packs.)

TDH37 - Ichiro Suzuki This Day in History (I always get Ichiro cards, so this didn't faze me. These are nice looking, although it seems like the pairings will be fairly arbitrary. When I think of Ichiro, the Cuban Missile Crisis never came to mind, but maybe it will now?)

All in all, I can't complain too much. I ended up with 9 cards, one more than I should have, and... well... Spinosaurus!

  1. Hahaha, it is actually Jenrry. Are you collecting the set? If not, maybe we can work out a deal for the Jenrry.

  3. So the dino minis sucked you in too? I've yet to buy any packs, but the dino cards are going for relatively cheap on eBay...
